I wholeheartedly believe in giving pregnant parents accurate & up to date information about all choices available to them. I believe knowledge is power. However, it is only one kind of power. There is also the power that comes from within. You can know things intellectually, but you also need the emotional confidence to use that knowledge for your own good and for that of your baby. Most pregnant women today have never been at a birth until they are having their first baby. Our media is notorious for portraying births in an innaccurate way full of rare complications and death. As a result, many women are scared of giving birth. For that reason, my classes include a lot of work on finding your confidence in birth. Your body was made to do this! You don't need to "do" anything, just let your body function as it was designed. All the other animals do it. It is ordinary. Childbirth can absolutely be a highlight of your life. The majority of the time every single step in the creation of your baby procedes perfectly. Blending the mother and father's genes, placental exchange of nutrients, hormonal responses that start labor, the release of endorphins in labor, the rotation & birth of your baby, release of your placenta & physiologic closure of the umbilical vessels, The formation of colostrum and then mature milk...Everything happens in exactly the right way at exactly the right time! It is miraculous!
