one evening class to explain the many choices available for pregnancy and birth; doctor? midwife? Doula? medicated or natural? hospital or birth center? What are all these types of childbirth classes and methods? Natural Birth Classes - (5 weeks, 15 hrs) Designed to provide excellent preparation for those considering natural (unmedicated) childbirth. They are a great alternative to Bradley classes. This comprehensive holistic class is designed to give you information about all aspects of pregnancy, birth and postpartum, including; A brief history of childbirth, finding your confidence in birth, the philosophy and reality of natural childbirth, healthy consumerism, how to find good care providers, nutrition, optimal fetal positioning & exercises for pregnancy that can make your labor shorter and easier, breathing & relaxation skills, natural pain relief options, pros and cons of interventions medications and tests, the physiological birth process & tips for each stage, how to give excellent labor support (coaching), creating your birth your way (birth plans), cesarean birth & reducing the risk of it, adjusting to new parenthood, and basics of postpartum mom & newborn care, breastfeeding. Suitable for hospital, home or birth center families. Taught in Los Alamitos. $175.00 Current Class Calendar Prepared Childbirth Class - For hospital birthers. (3 weeks) What to expect in late pregnancy and labor/birth and the normal postpartum period. Includes the physiology of birth, some breathing and relaxation skills, how to be/find a good coach, pro's and cons of interventions & medications, minimizing side effects, cesarean birth, postpartum mom and newborn care. Taught in Los Alamitos. $90.00 Wednesday eves 7-10pm Current Class Calendar Breastfeeding Class- A fun, interactive, one meeting class that will cover everything you need to know to get off to a good start! Including; Why breastfeed?, benefits to mom, dad, baby and society, how milk is made and transferred to the baby, Is baby getting enough?, normal newborn behavior and how it affects feeding, how to avoid common discomforts and prevent problems, attaining a good latch, practical tips for nursing in public, pumping, going back to work or school, the truth about breastfeeding accessories and supplies . $25.00 Current Class Calendar Private Classes in your home are available by appointment. Small Group Classes in your work place are available by special arrangement. Refresher Classes - Available by special arrangement.
